Sheikh Nawaf Visits Union of the Comoros and Meets with President During a Closed Meeting PDF Print E-mail

Doha, Qatar – August 25, 2009 --- His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH) was on a visit to the Union of Comoros arriving at Maroni, the capital of The Grand Comoros. Sheikh Nawaf was accompanied by a delegation from QNH which included Mr. Jan Poul De Boer, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Denis Sorin, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Hesham Kamal, Legal Advisor, and Ms. Tamara Khalil, Group Director Marketing, along with a delegation from the Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani Charity Institution represented by Mr. Mohammed Al Hail, Board of Director and Mr. Ibrahim Saleh, Executive Director.  
Image Sheikh Nawaf was welcomed by the President and people of the Union of Comoros and met with His Excellency President Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi in a closed meeting at his Beit Al Salam Palace in Moroni. Sheikh Nawaf and the President discussed bi-lateral social and economic issues related to their respective countries in addition to the current global economic situation and its effects on the Union of the Comoros with the country's plans to attract foreign investments to the country. President Sambi commended Sheikh Nawaf on the efforts of the Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Charity Institution'sImage generous contributions to the medical welfare of the Union of Comoros. The discussions also revolved around QNH's plans to invest in the country's hospitality sector and further investment opportunities in the Union of the Comoros.
 In this respect, a memorandum of understanding was signed stating that QNH will purchase a land in the Mitsamiouli area which lies in the north of Grand Comoros and is to invest in a hotel/resort envisioned to set a new benchmark for quality and standards in the Comoros with hopes to boost tourism to the countries islands.
Image The Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Charity Institution has also signed a memorandum of understanding with plans to build a new 120 bed hospital in addition to further humanitarian contributions to the Union of the Comoros with consideration of the reconstruction to a number of mosques and the existing Al Marouf Hospital. 
Also during the visit His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf met with Vice President and Minister of Tourism and Investment, His Excellency Idi Nadhoim Imagealong with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minster of Health, and other top officials from the Comorian government.
In conclusion, Sheikh Nawaf relayed cordial regards from the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
