DOHA, Qatar—June 24, 2010— Committed to investing into local community and supporting the aim of Qatarisation initiatives, Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH) has recently launched an ample training programme during a specific event designed to attract Qatari nationals towards the hospitality industry.

Special targeted Qatarisation interviews were hosted at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. During the event, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, National Manpower Development Department, QNH Head Office along with General Managers and Directors of Human Resources of the owned and managed hotels met approximately (number) Qatari nationals interested in joining the fast growing hospitality industry. Interviews were held at individual hotel booths that were coordinated by the head of Qatarisation programme at QNH, Nawaf Al Obaidli. A number of 60 candidates have been selected to enroll as trainees in the QNH units for the duration of one year.

An introductory speech was delivered by Nasser Mehanna Al-Rameel, Assistant Director of National Manpower Department, followed by a presentation by Hamad Al Mulla, Chief Human Resources & Administration Officer at QNH, who introduced the audience formed by Qatari students and job seekers to the world of hospitality by offering glimpses into the field and explaining the excitement of a hotelier’s career.
“The Qatarisation initiative is an exciting challenge for us at QNH. Focusing on introducing and developing Qatari nationals to the world of hospitality, QNH strives to build bridges for locals to understand the uniqueness of hotel related career opportunities”, says Hamad Al Mulla. 
The training modules include a six months English language training course followed by a three months on-job training and three months hospitality related course. The cost incurred by the training courses is financed by the Ministry of Labour, while QNH and its units will pay a monthly allowance to each trainee throughout the duration of the programme.

Upon completing the six-month English training course, the hotels are committed to permanently employ the trainees in their respective properties. Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel is seeking to enroll 15 persons in the training programme, The Ritz Carlton, Doha and Sharq Village & Spa will share 25 trainees, The Doha Marriott Hotel commits to enroll ten, Mövenpick Hotel Doha with three, while the Merwebhotels will share seven trainees. 
“The tourism industry in Qatar is growing at a fast pace and we are aiming to delight the world visitors with traditional Qatari hospitality delivered by its very own people. We have chosen to partner with QNH for this programme as we are confident that Qatari nationals will find favourable auspices to develop as exceptional hoteliers,” says Nasser Mehanna Al-Rameel, Assistant Director of National Manpower Department.
